Description

Vertical gas separators are mainly used in natural gas treatment and purification processes, to prepare natural gas for piping transport, protect the equipment from mechanical particles and droplets and provide for hydrocarbon processing.

Vertical gas separators appear as vertical cylinders with:

  • gas inlet and pre-KO drum for fluids;
  • main separator (plate with centrifugal components);
  • microcyclones (or dust arrester types) or strainer and
  • fine filter cartridge gas section (for extra gas treatment quality requirements).

The unit has process piping and C&A connections.

Gas enters the unit via radial connection and reaches the inlet deflection plate to be pre-treated to remove liquids. Then gas is routed to flange-connected plate with centrifugal parts where partial liquid removal continues. The liquid caught in this plate is drained to the bottom of vessel via the rundown pipe to be drained via the applicable connection. Gas is finally treated in the strainer on top of the vessel, while drains are routed to the bottom of the cylinder via the applicable connection.
