Contaminant arrester filters are intended to provide treatment for pumped fluids from mechanical parts, foreign objects, clays, paraffin and gum residuals and scaling.

There are two kinds of designs for contaminant arrester filters: horizontal and vertical.

Horizontal ones are intended for installation at oil pump stations and oil product pumping mains.

Vertical ones come in three options: strainers, mesh drains and drain splitters. Strainers are usually installed upstream jockey pumps, while two of the latter are intended for installation upstream oil and oil product pumping skids.
